Most women menstruate from 3-7 days each cycle. Menstrual changes such as spotting and decreased or increased bleeding can be caused by hormonal birth control methods and IUDs. You can miss or skip a period due to changes in diet, exercise, travel or stress.

Every woman’s cycle is different, and the same woman can have cycles that vary from time to time. Only 12% of women have a perfect 28 day cycle. From the start of one period to the start of the next can be anywhere from 21 to 35 days. Very few women have cycles that fall outside that range.
