what are the benefits of using birth control pills?

Oral contraceptive have many

Oral contraceptive have many benefits, which is one reason they are so popular. They are very effective, compared to other forms of birth control, such as barrier methods and natural methods. Oral contraceptives come in many types, such as daily use, extended use pills, and the estrogen-free mini-pill, which has fewer side effects. Typical (combined) oral contraceptive make menstrual cycles more regular and predictable, and reduce cramping and PMS. Some women also experience less premenstrual depression. Oral contraceptives reduce acne and reduce the risk of certain types of reproductive cancers.

With all these benefits, its easy to think that oral contraceptives may just be health food! However, keep in mind that they are pharmaceutical drugs, which have just as many potential side effects and risks as benefits. Pill manufacturers will emphasize the benefits and downplays risks.
