If your period has been consistently on time ever since you got your IUD and now it is unexpectedly late you should immediately have a pregnancy test.
The Mirina IUS contains hormones that can make your period late, but it seems unusual this would only happen now after two years of no use with no problem if this is what you are on. The Paragard IUD has no birth control chemicals in it, so it should not cause your period to be late if that is what you are using.
In either case, you must find out immediately if you are pregnant because pregnancy with an IUD is extremely serious and potentially life threatening to you and your baby. Visit your doctor right away.
