Tubal ligation for female

Tubal ligation for female sterilization is a very effective way to achieve permanent infertility and has a failure rate of only 0.4% per year. That means that every year, less than 1 in 500 women will get pregnant after being sterilized.

That being said, there is that rare woman that gets pregnant anyway. To be absolutely sure, you need a pregnancy test. Pregnancy can be dangerous for you because sterilized women who get pregnant are more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy (i.e. tubal pregnancy - that means that the embryo gets stuck in the fallopian tube), and that can be very serious and even fatal.

Visit your ob/gyn for a medical pregnancy test right away.

Best of luck,
