Scientists believe it is time for the gay and transgender populations health needs to be studied. The scientists say it was not long ago that they determined how diseases affect men and women differently. Now it is time to study the gay and transgender population in order to provide them with better healthcare.

Stigma Keeps a Population from Receiving Proper Healthcare

Many doctors believe that the stigma of being gay, lesbian or bi-sexual keeps many people from going to the doctor for healthcare. Dr. Robert Graham, professor of family medicine at the University of Cincinnati is quoted as saying the following: "Whatever your politics, as long as you accept the premise that every American ought to have the opportunity for the same health status and the same degree of health, then you really have to understand what the different influences are that may keep certain populations away from having that opportunity."

Conclusion

It is time for people to open their minds and allow people to live their lives the way they chose to and stop judging people for their decisions. The gay and transgender population deserve the same healthcare treatment as heterosexuals receive.
