Birthing Tourism Center in San Gabriel, CA Shut Down
The luxurious two story Spanish-Style townhouses that offered maternity care and birthing to wealthy Chinese women who wanted their children to be American citizens was shut down.
Birthing Center
“The birthing centers are a twist on similar centers in China in which women recuperate for a month after delivery, following a strict diet and traditional rules meant to ensure their future health.” The women who came to the center in San Gabriel, CA were cared for at the townhouses and gave birth at a local hospital.
Morally Correct
While this practice is not illegal in the United States, it is one that is kept very hush-hush! These women pay large sums of money for what ultimately is having their baby born a US citizen which allows both the mother and child to remain legally in the United States. I suppose when it comes to what is morally correct who can blame them seems everyone wants to be an American these days.
Conclusion
The majority of women who were living in the townhouses either went to a hotel or they returned to China with their baby knowing that their baby can return to the US at any time.
